The Bachelor of Science in Biology at Â鶹ӳ»Ó°Òô offers seven concentrations: cellular and molecular biology, ecology, aquatic biology, vertebrate or invertebrate zoology, pre-health professional and pre-medical technology. As part of your degree program, you will spend a significant amount of your educational time in the laboratory or field. By practicing methods and techniques, you can engage in internal research projects or be competitive for external summer research internships. After graduation, you can effectively compete for jobs or move into a graduate or professional program.
Microbiology: You'll learn about microorganisms with emphasis on those of medical significance and problems of personal and community health.
General Botany: This course serves as an introduction to plant structure and function with emphasis on the seed plants.
Genetics: This is a course on the general principles of heredity, including human inheritance.
Molecular Biology: You'll understand the concepts and applications of procedures for isolation and identification of components found in cells. This course also addresses structure and function of proteins and nucleic acids as well as the roles of these molecules in important biochemical processes.
Organic Chemistry I: This course focuses on current theories and chemical principles as they relate to the field of structure and reaction of the various types of organic compounds.
