David Robles is a Borderlands historian whose research focuses on Chicana/o activism and movements in South Texas. His publications include the book chapter, "'It Was Us against Us': The Pharr Police Riot of 1971 and the People’s Uprising against El Jefe Político," in the anthology Civil Rights in Black and Brown: Histories of Resistance and Struggle in Texas (University of Texas Press, 2021), winner of the Oral History Association’s 2022 Book Award; and two articles in the Journal of South Texas: "'Viva La Causa, Hasta La Victoria': Chicano Activism and Organization at Texas A&I University" and "Walking Out: The Media’s Report of the Edcouch-Elsa Student Walkouts of 1968." Dr. Robles has won an Arizona Historical Research Fellowship and other awards. He teaches the U.S. history survey and offers upper-level and graduate courses in Mexican-American history.
