OLD BUSINESS:

  • Parking violation appeals process.

Committee to turn in JANUARY APPEALS that were distributed prior to today’s meeting.

ALL WERE RECEIVED.  Note Govin Kaggel turned his in earlier but unable to attend meeting due to class schedule conflict.  Diane Thibodeaux turned hers in earlier due to being away from campus at the time of the meeting.

  • Signage: Meeting with Kate Downing and Katherine Miller report. Mike Spears reported on his and Diane’s meeting with Kate and Katherine and the discussion regarding entrance signs to parking lots.  We are working towards mirroring the design of the new signs in the Quad.  I did send to each of them an inventory of the lots and their designated purpose i.e. visitor, all permit, employee, gated, or parking, etc.

  • Committee was asked to assist in prioritizing parking lots that need the most attention for repair and replacement.

F-6 Lot next to Speech and Hearing has been repaired and restriped and ready for use.

E-1 Lot is under utilized

Lots F1 and F2 are on the scheduling list for repair/repainting.  Madison again asked about directional arrows for the lot.  I explained the issue of straight in verses angle parking and the with straight in spaces you can back out and go in either direction.  If striped you need to back out and travel in the direction of the arrows and if you need to go the opposite way you have to back across on lane and into the other.  Also talked about speed limits in parking lots.  I sent each member an email with the parking regulations showing 10 miles per hour limit in the parking lots unless otherwise posted.

  • Lot F-6 suffered a cave in caused by a Fire Truck. Construction and concrete work is to begin soon.

Planning and Construction will provide repaving and striping as part of the STEM bldg. project.

Note:  Clinic does not start until February.

F-6 Lot next to Speech and Hearing has been repaired and restriped and ready for use.

NEW BUSINESS:

  • Govin Kaggal our student representative cannon meet on Thursdays due to his schedule. Is there a possibility of moving the meeting to a different day? All members present were satisfied to keep the meetings on 2nd Thursday at 1:30 PM

  • Open comments from the committee members.

The Parking Advisory Committee will communicate with Planning & Construction regarding the need

For canopy’s in pick up and drop off areas to allow for inclement weather protection.

Discussion from the committee regarding additional sidewalks and jogging/walking pathways.  This

Need to be communicated to the Planning and Construction department.  This would require working

With TXDOT and City of Beaumont for some right of way and easement access.

Diane Drawhorn is communicating with Planning and Construction on these suggestions from the committee.
