Â鶹ӳ»Ó°Òô has partnered with the Association of College and University Educators (ACUE) to offer at no cost to faculty, a certification opportunity to develop best practices in teaching online and face-to-face courses.

The concentrates on teaching practices effective in face-to-face or online instruction. Comprehensive in scope and organized around five units of study, faculty members learn together in cohorts and implement approaches to design an effective course and class, establish a productive learning environment, use active learning techniques, promote higher order thinking, and assess in ways that inform instruction and promote deeper levels of learning.

ACUE certification is endorsed by the American Council on Education (ACE). That means faculty can rest assured that the ACUE mark of distinction will serve them well for the rest of their career.

Full ACUE certification is broken down into completion of 4 six-week microcredentials:

  • Creating a Productive Learning Environment,
  • Promoting Active Learning,
  • Inspiring Inquiry and Promoting Lifelong Learners, and
  • Designing Learner-Centered Courses.

A teacher and classroom

The ACUE certificate in Effective Teaching Practices ensures that faculty learn about—and implement—the approaches that improve engagement and persistence and promote deeper learning.

Faculty who are certified in ACUE’s Effective Teaching Practice Framework can teach effectively online or in person in a way that motivates all students to stay enrolled and succeed. Instructors certified in ACUE’s Framework have:

  • Improved retention of first year students by 4%
  • Decreased their DFW (the percentage of students who receive a D, receive an F, or withdraw) rates by 3% points, and
  • Improved GPAs by 0.19 to above 3.0
