Spindletop Gladys City to host Jazz and Wine Night

Spindletop Gladys City Museum announces its first two Jazz and Wine nights Friday, April 23 and Friday, June 18. Jazz and Wine Nights feature music and drinks with old friends and new friends. Come and relax on a Friday evening. Bring your friends and hear great music. Visitors are encouraged to bring lawn chairs, although the museum will provide some seating.

The cost is $10 a person for non-members and free for museum members. Money raised will help fund Jazz and Wine Invitationmuseum renovations including replacement of sidings of each of the buildings, updated electricity and installation of central air units in the buildings.

Each participant will receive 3 tickets for drinks. Red and white wine and some beer varieties will be served along with water and soft drinks. Light refreshments will also be available.

On April 23, the guest singer is Hunter Courts. Hunter is a graduate of PN-G High School where he participated in theatre production and show choir.  During the past 20 years, Hunter has performed in many theatre productions in the community. For the past six years, Hunter has performed at several local restaurant venues including Judice’s 1927, Tia Juanita’s, New York Pizza & Pasta, The Neches River Wheelhouse and The Pompano Club.  In addition, he performs at weddings, private parties and other special events.  Hunter sings the good ole classics of Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, Dean Martin, Elvis Presley, Elton John, Billy Joel and many other great classic artists. Here in Southeast Texas, Hunter is known as the local "modern-day crooner" and has been featured in the CAT 5 Entertainment Guide of the “Beaumont Enterprise.” 

On June 18, the guest singer is Seth Wade Melancon. Seth is a music-savvy composer/producer with eight years in the film scoring field and more than 13 years of experience composing, arranging and performing music. Seth has made a name for himself within the Southeast Texas talent scene. He has played numerous venues and churches around the Southeast Texas area. Apart from performing, Seth has composed and produced the scores for many films, both short and feature-length. He prides himself as a versatile multi-instrumentalist, showing proficiency in piano performance, cello, guitar, brass/winds and drums.

“We are so excited to start this series of Jazz and Wine events in the saloon and yard at the museum,” Director Troy Gray said. “This will be a fun way to relax on a Friday evening with great conversation and drinks.”

Spindletop-Gladys City Boomtown is a replica of the boomtown that grew up around the Spindletop oil fields in the early 1900s. Located on US 69 at Jimmy Simmons Blvd in Beaumont, the museum is open Tuesday – Saturday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday 1 to 5 p.m.
